Welcome to Sorrento

Sorrento is a rural area in Lake County that is part of the Orlando-Kissimee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area spans about 1.3 miles and is bordered by Mount Plymouth and Mount Dora and has great access to the Orlando area. This quaint location has a tight-knit community where residents can feel at home with their neighbors.

The first settlers moved to the area in 1875 and began planting orange groves and building cabins to grow the area. With the establishment of a post office, grocery store, and hotel, the town slowly began to grow and prosper. The town’s name was inspired by a book one of the residents was reading named Agnes of Sorrento by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The Italian setting covered in fruits and flowers inspired the townspeople to vote for Sorrento as the name of the area.

Sorrento has a mix of modern, luxury, and Tudor-style homes, which makes the architectural layout of the area very unique. There is also the exclusive, gated community of Red Tail, home to stunning properties complete with manicured landscaping and high-end features. These features include custom finishes, gourmet kitchens, and private outdoor living spaces complete with swim-up bar pools, outdoor kitchens, and patios.

The moderate temperatures and sunshine allow residents to spend most of their time outdoors in the beautiful weather. Although Sorrento is close to shopping and restaurants, this charming area provides a quiet, peaceful atmosphere away from the busy city.

For a truly heavenly experience, locals favor the winery at Oak Haven Farms.
